Founded in 1982, Cardinale has long been known for crafting elegant, ageworthy Cabernet Sauvignon blends from across Napa Valley’s finest mountain vineyards. Each vintage, all sub-appellations of the region are considered, and grape sources change from year to year to create the most distinctive wine. Today, under the vision of winemaker Christopher Carpenter, Cardinale remains a limited production and a powerful Cabernet Sauvignon. Every bottle of Cardinale showcases the unique character of the region’s mountain AVAs blended with renowned winemaking artistry, resulting in a wine that expresses both power and grace.

While the mountain vineyards serve as a muse, it is in the Cardinale Estate, nestled in the heart of Napa Valley’s famed Oakville District, that the timeless character of the wine is brought to life with contemporary sophistication. Following a thoughtful, yearlong renovation, in May of 2025 Cardinale revealed a reimagined experience that extends far beyond what is inside the bottle.

Located just off Highway 29, the Cardinale Estate opens to one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in Napa Valley, setting the tone for a serene and intimate tasting experience. From the moment you arrive, you’ll feel the harmony between tradition and innovation. The historic stone winery now offers an elevated aesthetic that honors its heritage while embracing modern design. With a focus on repurposed materials, enhanced functionality and refined details, every element has been crafted to heighten the senses.

While Cardinale is known for its signature Cabernet Sauvignon, guests will also delight in the other wines produced by the estate, including the singular white wine—Intrada Sauvignon Blanc—and the charismatic Caladan Cabernet Franc and Proprietary Red Blend. Guests of the Cardinale Estate can now select from one of four elevated experiences, available by prior appointment only:

• An Introduction to Cardinale—Perfect for first-time visitors or those wanting a taste of luxury to get acquainted with the work of winemaker Christopher Carpenter through four current releases from the mountain vineyards of Napa Valley.
• Reserve Estate Tasting—A classic immersion into the wines of Christopher Carpenter, showcasing the breadth and depth of Napa Valley with the impact of organic farming in the mountain vineyards and the blending process.
• The Winemaker’s Library Experience—Rare library bottles hand-selected by winemaker Christopher Carpenter offer a curated exploration of Cardinale wines designed to indulge seasoned collectors and wine connoisseurs.
• The Cardinale Mt. Veeder Experience—Venture outdoors and into a core element of Cardinale with a tour of organically farmed Mt. Veeder vineyards as well as a private seated tasting experience 2,000 feet above the valley floor.

Accompanying each tasting, the Cardinale Estate proudly features a thoughtful seasonal menu curated by chef Natalie Niksa of La Saison in Napa Valley. Known for her refined approach and deep connection to the land, chef Natalie brings unmatched artistry to the bounty of local farms, creating elevated bites that perfectly complement each tasting and enhance the overall wine experience.
